The deployment of renewable energy in southeastern Gran Canaria is entering a crucial phase. The Canary Islands Government's Directorate General of Energy has officially announced the preliminary steps for acquiring the land needed to carry out the Renove II Wind Farm project. This facility, which will have a nominal capacity of 1,8 MW, is being developed for Ayagaures Medio Ambiente, a subsidiary of Pérez Moreno.
The department headed by Alberto Hernández Suárez has summoned the owners of the affected properties and rights to appear on March 27. The hearing will take place at the offices designated by the Agüimes City Council, the municipality where the infrastructure will be located. This procedure is a mandatory preliminary step for taking possession of the properties, as authorized by the declaration of public utility for the facility.
The file (ER-19/0184) has undergone a lengthy administrative process that culminated in the resolution of March 3rd, which authorized a substantial modification of the project. Given the declaration of public utility, the Electricity Sector Law mandates the urgent occupation of the affected properties.
The property owners summoned must bring their national identity card (DNI), documents proving ownership, and their most recent property tax (IBI) receipt. The resolution states that if the address of some interested parties is unknown, publication in the official gazettes (BOE, BOC, and BOP) will serve as legal notification. Ayagaures Medio Ambiente, SL, as the beneficiary of the expropriation process, assumes responsibility for the construction of this 1,8 MW wind farm. The project is part of the regional strategy to decarbonize the Canary Islands' economy, harnessing the wind potential of the Agüimes area, one of the archipelago's most windy locations. Once the official records are completed on the 27th, the company will be able to physically occupy the land to begin the foundation work and installation of the wind turbines that will power this new clean energy generation facility.
