The Yumbo Shopping Centre became the epicenter of inclusion and joy this Monday, March 16th, with the celebration of the Barrier-Free Gala of the Maspalomas Carnival. Under the charismatic hosting of Adolfo Rodríguez, the event kicked off at 18:00 PM with an overflowing energy that captivated the hundreds of attendees. The opening act was performed by the murga group “Los Star,” from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, whose 32 members, directed by Alberto Arencibia, showcased the fantasy “The Wizards of Hogwarts Who Bewitched Las Vegas.”

The afternoon continued with the parade of the Occupational Centers, the true stars of the day. Asdownsur opened the catwalk with a group of 14 members who performed two acts. They were followed by CO Arucas, who delighted the audience with the individual costume “Happy Wings,” performed by Marcos Sarmiento, and a group performance entitled “To the Rhythm of Poker.” Each performance was a testament to effort and creativity, demonstrating that carnival knows no limits when it comes to expressing freedom through costume and dance.

One of the most anticipated moments was the performance by CO Valleseco, a center that arrived with the prestige of having recently won third prize at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival. The duo of Luis Daniel Herrera and Fátima Montero performed “Carnival Fantasy,” and the group of 19 people presented “Reineta Buccaneers in Search of Treasures.” Similarly, CO Envera surprised the audience with their theme “Where Luck Dresses Up for a Party,” a particularly admirable performance as the music was created by DJ Twoxs, the stage name of the center's talented beneficiary, Sergio Suárez.

The display of talent continued with performances by CO Mogán, who presented an elegant "Showgirl" fantasy, and CO Ingenio, whose 19-member group reminded everyone that "What happens in Vegas... you dance to it." CO San Bartolomé brought the event to a close, acting as host with 31 members who performed "The Circus of Tirajana Dreams." The group Cuenta Atrás provided the musical entertainment and got the entire audience dancing. The event concluded with the municipal authorities of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the neighboring municipality of Mogán taking the stage. In a spirit of camaraderie, awards were presented to all participating groups, recognizing their artistic achievements.
