A head-on collision between two vehicles on Wednesday afternoon mobilized several emergency resources in southern Gran Canaria. The incident left one woman with serious injuries and a man with moderate bruising.
The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received an alert at 18:37 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, reporting a head-on collision between two vehicles at kilometer 60 of the GC-60 highway, within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Following the call, 112 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources to assist those involved.
Emergency medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated two injured people at the scene. A woman suffered multiple serious contusions and, after being stabilized by paramedics, was transported by ambulance to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria. A 32-year-old man with several moderate contusions was taken by basic life support ambulance to Hospiten Roca.
During the operation, firefighters had to extricate one of the injured people who was trapped inside one of the vehicles involved. The Civil Guard directed traffic in the area of the accident and conducted the corresponding investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crash.
