The flooding of the Barranco de Soria ravine has forced the complete closure of the road and prevented the rescue convoy that was scheduled for this morning.

The episodes of stormy rain that took place during Sunday night and early Monday morning have triggered significant flooding in the ravines that reach the coast of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, causing the closure of roads in various points, hence the Department of Security and Emergencies led by the deputy mayor José Carlos Álamo requests maximum caution from the affected neighborhoods.

In this regard, the significant rise in the water level of the Soria Ravine in recent hours has forced the complete closure of the GC-505 highway, preventing the rescue convoy that Firefighters and Civil Protection vehicles had planned to carry out at 7:00 a.m. this Monday to take residents of the ravine stranded in Las Crucitas back to their homes. The emergency convoys that were established during Saturday evening and Sunday proceeded without incident.

Access to Los Palmitos and the towns of Lomo Gordo and Lomo Perera is also currently cut off due to flooding in the Chamoriscán and Ayagaures ravines. This increased flow has been particularly noticeable near the old bullring, where firefighters had to rescue a person and their vehicle this morning after it became stranded by the water.

These floods in the Chamoriscán and Ayagabres ravines, together with the flow of water from Fataga and the Los Vicentes and Vicentillos ravines, are also causing the Maspalomas Ravine, where they converge, to run along the entire length of the channel towards the Charca and the Maspalomas Beach, where the sand has practically disappeared due to the southeast waves.

Precisely at the mouth of the Maspalomas Ravine, as planned, a relief channel for La Charca has been opened to prevent the flow of water from the canal from breaking the sand front of the lagoon.

Furthermore, the overflowing of the ravines and their confluence with the coast has resulted in almost all the beaches in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana flying red flags this Monday due to the turbidity of the water in the bathing areas and the potential danger this poses to users. Runoff has caused significant damage to several beaches, particularly San Agustín, Las Burras, and El Veril.

The accumulation of rain that fell during the early hours of this morning also prompted the precautionary closure of the GC-60 due to a landslide of rocks and mud at the Fataga Water Mill, which has already been resolved by heavy machinery from the Department of Municipal Services.

The Councillor for Security and Emergencies, José Carlos Álamo, asks the public that while the alert for the storm remains in effect, "caution should be maintained at all times, and attention should be paid to the information provided by official channels."
