The administrative machinery of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has stepped on the gas in the first quarter of 2026, mobilizing nearly €7.6 million (€7.584.022,93) in tenders aimed at urban transformation and social revitalization. The bulk of this investment is concentrated in public works, with one major project standing out: the expansion of Sonneland Park and the refurbishment of the hillside in Parque del Sur, a project valued at €3.735.202,13 for which the deadline for submitting bids is March 30th.
The educational and sports infrastructure budget also accounts for a substantial portion of the current budget. The city council is currently evaluating the renovation of several Infant and Primary Schools (CEIP) through the FDCAN fund, with a budget of €371.077,07. An additional €416.646,76 has been allocated for the installation of lightweight roofing at the CEIP Oasis Maspalomas school. In the sports sector, the renovation of the roof of the Aldea Blanca municipal swimming pool has been put out to tender for €265.246,09, while coastal safety is being improved with the replacement of railings along the Castillo del Romeral promenade for €132.090,22.
Municipal mobility and operations have also been the subject of high-impact tenders. Notable among these are the maintenance and repair contract for the municipal vehicle and machinery fleet, amounting to €586.465,90, and the discretionary road transport service linked to the activities of the council departments, budgeted at €165.420,56. In the area of road infrastructure, the projects for on-ramps in San Fernando and El Veril towards Avenida de la Unión Europea are currently under evaluation, with a combined planned investment of €560.747,66.
The festive and cultural calendar for the summer of 2026 already has firm financial commitments. The city council has awarded the contract for the tenth edition of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival for €228.971,96 and has open tenders for the San Fernando Festival (€205.100,84) and the Holy Trinity Festival in El Tablero (€167.151,41). These allocations are complemented by smaller but highly valuable initiatives, such as guided tours of the Arteara Necropolis for €18.691,59 and the provision of library materials for €5.000.
Regarding supplies and internal management, the city council swiftly finalized the purchase of recycled and virgin fiber paper on March 20th, totaling €9.567, and awarded property damage insurance policies for €66.016,68. Furthermore, the modernization of local administration is progressing with the implementation of a digital video recording system for council meetings, currently under evaluation, at a cost of €49.598,50. With this series of contracts, the municipality ensures the completion of essential services and major infrastructure projects before the end of the first half of the year.
