Thick plumes of black smoke emanating from a house caused alarm among residents of El Tablero on Wednesday afternoon. The incident prompted a rapid emergency response in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

 

A fire broke out in a house on Jamaica Street in El Tablero on Wednesday afternoon, March 25, 2026, prompting a response from several security and emergency services after a thick column of black smoke was spotted billowing from one of the windows. The situation caused concern among local residents, who alerted emergency services after noticing the intensity of the smoke coming from inside the house.

 

The first reports came in around 18:23 p.m., at which point officers from the National Police, firefighters from the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and local police officers quickly arrived at the scene. Their rapid response allowed them to secure the area around the building and act swiftly to control the fire and prevent risks to residents of the building and neighboring properties.

 

Initial reports suggest the fire may have originated from the kitchen extractor fan in the affected home, although further investigation will determine the exact source of the fire and the extent of the damage. Emergency crews are currently assessing the situation while gathering information on potential victims and the condition of the building's interior.
