Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez has lifted the suspension measures he decreed due to the alert situation caused by Storm Therese.

The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, has decided that the municipality can now return to normal and, as of five o'clock this Wednesday afternoon, has decided to nullify the decrees he issued on March 18 and 19 regarding the declaration of an alert situation due to adverse weather phenomena linked to Storm Therese.

In this regard, the resolution signed by the mayor authorizes the reopening and resumption of activities that were suspended, such as seasonal services (sunbeds, umbrellas, kiosks) on the beaches; beach bars, taverns, fairground attractions or similar related to the Maspalomas International Carnival 2026; also the events planned in the Carnival program, such as the Canine Carnival, the Drag Gala and the subsequent revelry, the Rescue of the Sardine, the Carnival in the Sun, the Tourist Gala and the subsequent revelry.

The reopening and resumption of activities in municipal sports facilities and in public parks, recreational facilities and outdoor leisure areas is also authorized.

It also allows the reopening of recreational areas in the upper and mid-altitude zones of the municipality, and nullifies the recommendation made to users and owners of boats on the coast of the municipality.

However, Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez has decided to keep the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU) activated until normality is fully restored.

In his resolution, the mayor considers that the weather conditions have evolved favorably and after a day without significant incidents, it is appropriate to proceed with the resumption of ordinary municipal activity, maintaining the preventive coordination established by the PEMU.
