The operation was carried out during the night and had the collaboration of the Red Cross and Civil Protection

The evacuation was carried out urgently due to the increased flow of the ravine as a result of Storm Therese, which was battering the archipelago.

The animals were transferred to a suitable and safe place within the municipality of Mogán.

National Police officers, assigned to the Maspalomas Local Police Station, have coordinated the evacuation of a total of 15 dogs from a dog residence located in the Ayagaures area, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, due to the imminent risk of flooding resulting from the increased flow of the ravine as a consequence of Storm Therese that hit the archipelago.

The events took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, when the Security Forces informed the residents of the area of the need to evacuate their homes due to the anticipated release of water from the dam, which could cause a significant increase in the flow and affect the GC-504 road.

Faced with this situation, the National Police, through the CIMACC 091 emergency call center, coordinated the mobilization of resources to relocate the animals. However, the immediate availability of suitable vehicles was limited, forcing them to adopt an alternative solution to avoid delays that could endanger the animals' lives.

Thus, it was decided to initially evacuate seven small and medium-sized dogs using private vehicles and a police vehicle. Later, in the early hours of the morning, with the arrival of Red Cross and Civil Protection personnel, the transfer of the remaining eight dogs was completed.

All the animals were eventually transferred to a designated space in the municipality of Mogán, where they remained safe overnight, until they could return to their homes or owners.

The operation was carried out with the collaboration of the Red Cross and Civil Protection, whose personnel had warned that the dam's release was scheduled to begin at 23:00 p.m., which added urgency to the intervention.

The operation concluded without incident, ensuring both the safety of the people involved and the well-being of the animals.
