A bus fire on the GC-1 highway prompted an emergency response in southern Gran Canaria on Monday afternoon. The incident caused moments of uncertainty among drivers in the area.
The incident occurred around 18:00 PM at kilometer 44 of the GC-1 highway, heading towards Las Palmas, near Maspalomas, within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. According to available information, the fire originated on a bus belonging to the Global company, and initially, no emergency services were present at the scene.
In response to the situation, firefighters from San Bartolomé de Tirajana were called in and quickly arrived at the scene to control the flames and ensure road safety. National Police officers also arrived to assist with traffic management and securing the area. No injuries have been reported so far, although the incident caused traffic delays and required drivers to exercise extreme caution on this section of the highway.
