The visual phenomenon of murky waters and brown waves currently battering the Mogán and Arguineguín coastline is a direct result of the geological awakening of the Arguineguín Ravine following Storm Therese. This waterway, which has remained virtually inactive for three decades, has once again channeled, with unprecedented force, the rainfall from the Soria and Cercado de Espino peaks. As the water rushes violently towards the ocean, it carries tons of sediment, clay, and debris accumulated during years of drought, creating a dense mudflow that, upon reaching the Atlantic between El Pajar and Arguineguín, stains the water with a striking ochre patch that contrasts sharply with the usual blue of Gran Canaria's southern coast.
