Fimar 2026 returns in spring to connect the sea with the stars

MASPALOMAS24H Sunday, April 05, 2026

The 15th edition of the International Sea Fair will take place in Sanapú from May 22nd to 24th, with a special focus on Gran Canaria's status as a Starlight Destination and its sustainability.

The fair is now accepting registrations from exhibitors, while also preparing a program dedicated to the outermost regions as drivers of the blue economy and marine innovation.

Fimar 2026 returns to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this spring. The 15th edition of the International Sea Fair will be held at the Sanapú Wharf from May 22nd to 24th, marking another installment of the leading event for the marine, maritime, and nautical sector in the Canary Islands. The event will also once again become a major hub for leisure activities for residents and families, with a full program of events alongside the exhibitors' stands and a water feature offering various displays and experiences at sea.

It is an event promoted by the Gran Canaria Island Council and the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council and Ports of Las Palmas, and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria and the City of the Sea Council of the Gran Canaria capital.

At the Sanapú Pier

This latest edition of the International Sea Fair will take place in the city's port area, next to the Poema del Mar aquarium and the Onda Atlántica footbridge. It will be dedicated to the theme of Outermost Regions and the Sea, highlighting the strategic role of these territories—such as the Canary Islands—in the development of the blue economy, marine innovation, and Atlantic cooperation.

These objectives have been the raison d'être of Fimar since its inception, with a recurring presence of public administrations, academic institutions, sports federations and a wide representation of companies whose activity is directly connected to the ocean.

Registration for exhibitors

In fact, the commercial offering of the event has been one of its main hallmarks, with the outstanding attendance of operators dedicated to nautical activities, boats, industry, sports or fashion.

Thus, at Fimar, professionals and companies in the sector will have a specialized space to generate contacts and knowledge, foster business and growth opportunities, and present their entire range of products and services to the public directly in the best possible environment.

In fact, the organization has already opened registration for exhibitors interested in participating in this new edition of Fimar, which can be accessed at the following link:

Ocean Outreach

True to its tradition, the fair will dedicate a significant section to disseminating content related to ocean science and the blue economy. To this end, a comprehensive program of free talks and presentations is already being developed, aimed at the general public and featuring prominent experts and specialists in various marine-related fields. In addition, there will be technical sessions designed for a more specialized audience, such as workshops and seminars.

Gran Canaria Starlight Destination

Regarding the themes inspiring these outreach activities in 2026, particular emphasis has been placed on Gran Canaria as a Starlight Destination. This refers to the island's advantages as an ideal location for stargazing, an attractive feature for both locals and tourists visiting the archipelago. Therefore, Fimar's program will focus on the connection between the sea, the sky, and environmental protection, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

Space for family leisure

The leisure program at the International Sea Fair will be rounded out with a series of nautical activities, an exhibition area, and children's activities, in a lineup that attracts thousands of people to the venue each year. It's an ideal space for family leisure, outdoors, and with a direct connection between the port and the city.

Overall, the proposal consolidates Fimar 2026 as the major blue economy event in the Canary Islands, a benchmark for public administrations, coastal municipalities, universities, federations and sports clubs, and a wide audience, always faithful to its rendezvous with the sea in Gran Canaria.
