El Carrizal is preparing to celebrate from May 14th to 17th a program that combines religious and popular events
The program for the festivities in honor of San Isidro Labrador will begin to be distributed from April 13th through municipal buildings and businesses, bringing to the public all the information related to the events that will take place from May 14th to 17th in El Carrizal.
Organized by the Ingenio Town Council, through its Department of Festivities, together with the Bicentennial Patronage Association of the Virgin - Carrizal Patron Saint Festivities, the festivities will offer a program that combines tradition, faith, identity, and a diverse range of cultural and leisure activities for all ages. The program is now available on the municipal website www.ingenio.es.
The religious events will begin on May 11th. The main day will be Sunday, May 17th, the Solemnity in honor of Saint Isidore the Farmer, with Holy Mass at 09:00 a.m. and, at 11:00 a.m., the Solemn Mass, after which the traditional procession will take place. The group Los Cochineros de Ingenio will provide the singing.
As for the public events, the program will kick off on Thursday, May 14, with a performance of the comedy play "They Call It Love," presented by the Saray Castro School of Talents, in Buen Suceso Park at 20:30 p.m. On Friday, May 15, the Zanga Tournament will be held in Buen Suceso Square at 20:00 p.m., followed by a musical evening with the Armonía Show Orchestra and the group Los Salvapantallas starting at 21:30 p.m. in the Park.
Saturday, May 16th, will be dedicated to children and culture, with morning activities including bouncy castles, a crafts workshop, and face painting. In the afternoon, the 30th AFC Guayadeque Children's Festival will take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by the "Chundarata" concert by the Villa de Ingenio Musical Society Youth Band at 8:30 p.m. The day will conclude with a performance by DJ Ulises Acosta and Paco Guedes starting at 9:30 p.m.
The festivities will begin on Sunday the 17th with the artisan and farmers' market on Sor Josefa Morales Street, from 10:00 AM to 15:00 PM, and the livestock fair and exhibition at the Barranco de Guayadeque fairgrounds from 10:00 AM to 13:00 PM. Before the procession and the departure of the throne, there will be a demonstration of plow lifting by Juanfran, son of "Pepe el Arado" (Pepe the Plowman). After the Solemn Mass, a tribute will be paid to the artist Emilio Almoguera in front of the Church of Our Lady of Good Success, and after the procession, there will be a communal toast with ropa vieja (a traditional Canarian dish) and a traditional open-air dance party (verbena) with music by Yeray Socorro. The festivities will culminate with a performance by the group Los Cochineros. Starting at 20:00 PM, they will offer a journey through traditional Canarian music with "Aires de Lima" as their guiding theme.
