Southern Gran Canaria is preparing for several days of changing weather, with more clouds, a drop in temperature, and the arrival of the trade winds. This weather pattern will be gradual and will be particularly noticeable from midweek onwards.
The weather in southern Gran Canaria will change in the coming days, shifting from stable conditions to more variable ones with clouds, some wind, and a slight drop in temperature. After several calm days, the island will experience a gradual change that will become more pronounced as the week progresses.
These days will begin with intervals of mid- and high-level clouds, leaving sunny spells in the south. Temperatures will be pleasant, with highs between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius on the southern coast and lows between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius. In the midlands and at the summits, it will be cooler, possibly dropping to 12-15 degrees Celsius, especially in the morning and at night.
In recent days, the phenomenon known as virga rain has also been observed, in which precipitation evaporates before reaching the ground due to dry air in the lower layers of the atmosphere. This type of cloud can give the sensation of rain without actually falling, something that has occurred in various parts of Gran Canaria.
From Tuesday, the return of the wetter trade winds will bring more cloud cover to the north of the island with light, persistent rain, while the south will continue to see mostly clear skies, although with some cloud cover at times. Winds will be moderate, especially in the southeast, and temperatures will tend to drop slightly, making it feel cooler. Some light haze is possible at times.
