The Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, Movelec, is preparing to welcome companies, professionals and those interested in electric mobility on April 18 and 19 at the Agüimes Fairgrounds.
“Gran Canaria is currently leading the way in electric mobility in the Canary Islands; 57% of electric vehicle sales in the archipelago take place on our island, and that is certainly no coincidence,” stated the Minister of the Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge, Raúl García Brink, who emphasized the “Gran Canaria Island Council’s clear commitment to the energy transition with the deployment of an island-wide network of charging points and a determined push for the electrification of transport.” “Gran Canaria is not only participating in the energy transition and the transition to electric mobility, but it is also leading the way,” the Minister added.
In this context, Movelec stands as the ideal space to convey to society "the latest developments in electric mobility, the environmental and energy-saving advantages, as well as the aid available for acquisition," and to send the message to citizens to "defend an eco-island free of CO2," stated the Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts, Minerva Alonso.
In its ninth edition, the Electric Vehicle Show has a new location, but maintains its objective of positioning itself as a meeting point between industry professionals and non-professional attendees interested in sustainable mobility. Both groups will have the opportunity over two days to discover the latest technological innovations in the sector, establish business contacts, and explore the current offerings of companies operating in the market.
Companies specializing in 100% electric vehicles, distributors, workshops, and specialized services such as renewable energy and charging solution installers, along with associations and institutions, will once again attend this event, which continues to solidify its position as a leading force in electric mobility in the Canary Islands. The event offers companies representing the entire value chain of the industry the opportunity to showcase their products and services related to sustainable transportation. For industry professionals and those interested in zero-emission driving, the Show provides the ideal meeting point to discover the latest technological innovations, the current range of vehicles available, and the complementary services required for sustainable mobility, as well as information on the various subsidies available for purchasing electric vehicles.
Furthermore, Movelec will once again feature experts in the field who will offer their perspectives on electric driving in various talks and roundtables. During the two-day event, topics such as the evolution of charging in Spain, energy communities as an integrated model for electric mobility, taxi electrification, flash charging, and, in general, the current situation and challenges of electric mobility in the Canary Islands will be addressed.
New this year, the Motor Show will feature six driving simulators with free access, and the highlight will be two days of courses on efficient electric vehicle driving. Visitors will learn everything they need to know about these vehicles: optimizing battery charging, regenerative braking, driving modes, and more. The courses include informative talks given several times throughout the event, complemented by practical driving sessions with expert instructors. Registration for these courses is free and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
