Yilenia Vega: “Ayagaures once again becomes, from April 17 to 26, a meeting point for residents and visitors, with festivities that are very much about identity and reunions”

The Ayagaures Festival Committee and the Department of Festivals and Events of San Bartolomé de Tirajana are launching the Festivals in honor of the Child God of Ayagaures, a highly anticipated event that will fill the neighborhood with atmosphere, tradition and activities for all audiences from April 17 to 26.

The program kicks off on Friday, April 17th, with the decoration of the town square and the surrounding neighborhood starting at 17:00 PM. At 19:00 PM, the opening address will be given by Carmelo Martín Pérez, a figure closely linked to the history and memory of the Ayagaures area and the southwest of Gran Canaria, whose life is deeply connected to the local traditions and family roots. The evening will continue with “Ayagaures en Punto,” featuring music, poetry, and improvisation with Yeray Rodríguez, followed by the traditional zanga tournament.

The celebration will continue on Saturday, April 18th, with a performance by singer Marcos Lozada Cazacu at 19:15 pm, followed by a gala performance by the Dunia Morales Dance School and, later in the evening, a street party with the Nueva Imagen group and their bandurria.

Sunday, April 19th will be a day designed for families to enjoy, with children's workshops from 10:00 am, Canarian music with Las Dunas del Sur, a Canarian wrestling exhibition and the classic foam party starting at 15:00 pm.

The festive atmosphere will return on Friday, April 24th with the Latin afternoon event “Ayagaures en Clave”, starting at 19:30 pm, featuring DJs, salsa and bachata workshops, and the participation of young talents from the municipality.
On Saturday, April 25th, one of the most anticipated moments will arrive: the pilgrimage, starting at 17:30 p.m., with the usual route to the town square. The day will continue with a documentary, a street party with the band Los Brillantes, and fireworks at midnight.

The festivities will conclude on Sunday, April 26th, starting at 11:30 a.m. with a full day of activities: a children's drawing workshop, Eucharist and procession accompanied by the Guinigüada Band, a Canarian barbecue, a street party with the Buen Onda group, and the traditional final chocolate party.

The Councillor for Festivals and Events, Yilenia Vega, stated that “Ayagaures is once again becoming a meeting point for residents and visitors, with festivities that are deeply rooted in local identity and a time for reunions.” She also emphasized that “the Festival Committee has prepared a vibrant program, with continuous activities and events for all ages, ensuring the neighborhood is bustling with activity every day.”

The Department of Festivities and Events encourages all citizens to come and enjoy the festivities that keep traditions alive and strengthen the bond between generations.
