Local Police officers from Mogán carried out an operation in Arguineguín that resulted in the arrest of an individual for alleged drug trafficking offenses –specifically, cocaine–, serious resistance and assault against law enforcement officers.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of April 14th, when officers were conducting a routine patrol and observed a suspicious scene in the coastal town. A parked vehicle was occupied by a man in the driver's seat who appeared nervous upon noticing the police presence, while a few meters away, another individual withdrew money from an ATM and then got into the vehicle.
After requesting the occupants' documents, the driver pushed one of the officers and fled. He was later intercepted, despite ignoring repeated orders to stop and continuing to resist arrest, using force to avoid being apprehended. During the search, officers found ten packets containing what appeared to be cocaine in one of his pockets, as well as 540 euros in cash in the glove compartment.
During the operation, the Canine Unit provided support and conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle involved, finding no further substances inside. The car was impounded and taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. The detainee was transferred to the main Civil Guard station in Puerto Rico, where the relevant legal proceedings continued.
With this operation, the Mogán Local Police reaffirm their commitment to citizen security and the fight against drug trafficking in the municipality.
