The General Council of the Judiciary has formalized the promotion of two members of the judiciary to the rank of magistrate, both serving in Gran Canaria. According to Royal Decree 254/2026, these appointments were made according to seniority, following the agreements adopted by the Standing Committee of the governing body of judges last March.

The most notable transfer for the south of the island is that of Sergio Aliaga Herrera. Until now a judge in the Arucas Court of First Instance, where he held position number 2 in the Civil and Preliminary Investigation Section, Aliaga Herrera has been promoted to join the judicial staff of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. In his new post, he will serve in position number 5 of the Civil Section of the Tirajana court.

On the other hand, the Royal Decree also confirms the promotion of Manuel Alcaide Pintado. The magistrate, who had been serving as a territorial judge assigned to the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) in the province of Las Palmas, will continue in that position following his promotion.

These appointments are part of an update to the judicial career path that seeks to strengthen experience and stability in key bodies for the management of civil matters, especially in judicial districts with a high workload, such as San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
