The National Police have arrested a 46-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, following a police intervention initiated after a call received on the 091 emergency telephone line.
The incident occurred on April 16, 2026, when the CIMACC 091 control room dispatched officers from the Local Citizen Security Brigade after receiving a report of a fight involving several people. Upon arrival, the officers located those involved and proceeded to identify them.
During the intervention, one of those present told the agents that the detainee was in possession of narcotic substances and that, at that moment, he was heading to the airport with the intention of transferring the drugs to Barcelona, where he intended to exchange them for another of higher quality and later return to the island with a larger quantity of the substance.
Based on this information, officers set up a checkpoint that allowed them to intercept the vehicle the suspect was driving. A search of the car, specifically the trunk, uncovered a suitcase containing a container with a white crystalline substance. A field test confirmed the substance to be amphetamine, weighing approximately 257 grams. Officers also seized €3.950 in cash, in various denominations.
Therefore, the officers proceeded to arrest the person involved, and he was taken to police headquarters.
Subsequently, the Narcotics Group of the Local Judicial Police Brigade took charge of the investigation, requesting and obtaining judicial authorization for the entry and search of the home linked to the detainee, as there were indications that it could be used as a point of sale of narcotic substances.
During the search of the property, the agents seized 128,39 grams of MDMA, 22,21 grams of ketamine, 29,8 grams of marijuana, 720,91 grams of methamphetamine, 26 ecstasy pills, a powdery substance of approximately 29,15 grams, apparently mephedrone, as well as three bottles of poppers and a bottle with 30 milliliters of colorless liquid, apparently GHB, confirming the existence of an active drug sales point.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which decreed his provisional release with the adoption of precautionary measures.
