Alejandro Marichal: “The Maspalomas International Carnival is an economic engine for the municipality. When it gains strength, it generates more activity, more opportunities, and more jobs for our people.”

Yilenia Vega: “The chosen theme received 59% of the votes, reflecting majority support and a solid decision by those who wanted to be part of this process.”

The Maspalomas International Carnival 2027 now has its theme: 'Toy World', a proposal chosen by the public with 402 votes (59,1%), reflecting clear majority support in the participatory process. The winning option prevailed over 'Sea Worlds', which received 247 votes (36,3%), while 'The Digital Age' garnered 31 votes (4,6%), confirming a strong decision by the participants.

In total, the vote has reached 680 votes, which represents an increase of 32,3% compared to the previous edition, when 514 were registered, confirming a greater reach and participation in this open process.

The process, promoted by the Department of Tourism, Festivities and Events, remained open from April 10 to 26, allowing the participation of both residents and visitors, in keeping with the international character of the carnival.

From a territorial perspective, participation is growing in Spain, and new European countries are joining the vote, reinforcing the international reach of the Maspalomas Carnival since its inception. The Councilor for Tourism, Festivities, and Events, Yilenia Vega (CC), points out that “the vote has reached 680 votes, a figure that consolidates the open model we have implemented in the council, based on listening to and ensuring the genuine participation of residents and visitors.”

Along these lines, he adds that “the chosen theme, 'World of Toys', obtained 402 votes (59,1%), which reflects a clear majority support and a solid decision on the part of those who wanted to be part of this process.”
For his part, the first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasizes that “the Maspalomas International Carnival is much more than a celebration, it is an economic engine for the municipality, capable of generating activity and opportunities.”

He also emphasizes that "when the carnival gains strength, the municipality does too: more activity, more opportunities and more employment are generated for our people."

The chosen theme now marks the beginning of the creative and organizational development of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2027, an edition that is once again built from participation and with a clear orientation towards its tourist and economic projection.
