Alejandro Marichal: “Seeing how the neighbors continue to get involved in the kitchen, serving and maintaining this celebration, shows that our roots are still very much present and that San Fernando preserves its most Canarian essence intact.”

Yilenia Vega: “Masparranda reminds us of the gatherings of yesteryear, of street parties, of sharing without haste, and of the pride in our traditions.”

The aroma of freshly cooked goat meat, the sound of traditional Canarian music, and the lively conversations among neighbors once again transformed El Poblado de San Fernando de Maspalomas into the heart of the Maspalomas festivities. The Masparranda celebration brought together hundreds of people for an evening marked by Canarian flavor, folk music, and a meeting of generations—an event that continues to keep the municipality's roots and customs alive.

The most traditional night of the festivities was once again celebrated around the tables, conversation and the collective work of the neighbors themselves, who were in charge of serving the food and preparing the goat meat in a traditional way, keeping intact a way of sharing that is passed from parents to children and that continues to be part of the identity of San Fernando.

During the evening, nearly 80 kilos of goat meat from Las Tirajanas, 90 kilos of pork from Tunte, more than 100 kilos of wrinkled potatoes, bread and seven pig's trotters were served in a tasting that once again brought together families, friends and visitors around the most representative flavors of Canarian cuisine.

The isas, folías and malagueñas took over the atmosphere with the performances of Las Dunas del Sur, Parranda El Cañizo, the guest group Bejeque and La Descamisá, who provided music for a night where tradition was felt alive again in every corner of the neighborhood.

The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasized that “Masparranda represents the best of our town. There are no frills here; what’s important is sharing, sitting together, listening to our music, and keeping alive traditions that are part of who we are.”
Marichal also pointed out that “seeing how the residents continue to get involved every year, cooking, serving and maintaining this celebration, shows that our roots are still very much present and that San Fernando preserves its most Canarian essence intact.”

For her part, the Councillor for Festivities and Events, Yilenia Vega, highlighted “the enormous work and affection that the residents put in to ensure that tonight continues to be one of the most special moments of the festivities.”

“Masparranda has something that stirs emotions,” Vega added. “It reminds us of gatherings from the past, street parties, leisurely sharing, and the pride in our traditions. It’s a night that connects generations and keeps the collective memory of our town alive.”

Once again, El Poblado became a meeting point to celebrate Canarian identity through music, gastronomy and neighborly coexistence, consolidating Masparranda as one of the most beloved and authentic events of the San Fernando de Maspalomas festivities.
