The regeneration of green infrastructure in the heart of Gran Canaria's southern tourism sector is moving towards its implementation phase. The Agricultural Transformation Company (Tragsa), acting as an in-house agency of the public administration, has reactivated the administrative process for the 'Landscape Improvement of the Maspalomas Palm Grove Oasis' project, located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The state agency has launched a tender in Madrid for the supply contract to acquire the treated wood needed for structural and decorative work in the natural area. The tender has an estimated value of €252.308,26 net of taxes, an investment aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of coastal recreational areas.
The public tender was conducted as an open procedure, governed by the European legal framework of Directive 2014/24/EU. The initial tender notice was published on May 11, 2026, establishing a fifteen-day period for forestry and silviculture operators to submit their technical and commercial proposals to the Tragsa Group Headquarters in Madrid. The final deadline for receiving applications to participate expired on May 26 at 14:00 p.m., and the formal opening of the administrative and financial bids took place immediately afterward, half an hour later, at the contracting authority's operational offices.
The technical specifications establish evaluation criteria that penalize purely economic competition in favor of operational efficiency. The price offered by the bidders carries the most weight in the award decision, accounting for 95 out of 100 points. Tragsa has introduced strict sustainability clauses for the development of this landscape improvement project. All documentation generated as a result of the contract execution must be processed, signed, and distributed exclusively in electronic format. The winning bidder will be responsible for removing all packaging and containers used during transport and for their subsequent recycling to mitigate the ecological impact of the project on the southern palm grove.
