SBT offers a wide range of cultural and youth programming to liven up the summer

Maspalomas24h Friday, 07 of August of 2026

The municipal program includes open-air cinema, music, fashion, audiovisual training, family activities, and free events aimed at young people aged 18 to 35.

The Culture and Youth Departments of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council are developing a joint program this summer that brings together cultural, educational, sporting, and leisure activities in various neighborhoods and public spaces throughout the municipality. The initiative aims to offer entertainment options for all ages, bringing culture and community engagement to different population groups.

One of the main focuses of the program is film. Through the Butaca 24 program, the Maspalomas Cultural Center offers free screenings throughout the year. During the summer, the initiative expands with Pequecinema, a series of outdoor children's film screenings, which have been taking place since Wednesday, August 5th, and will continue until Friday, August 14th, in the Parque Urbano del Sur, providing a family entertainment option for summer evenings.

The audiovisual program is rounded out by the "Cinema for Young People" workshop, which is being held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 22nd to September 9th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Maspalomas Cultural Center. The activity is designed to foster the training and creativity of participants in the field of filmmaking.

The program for this Saturday, August 8th in El Tablero includes the celebration of the outdoor leisure and music event 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', with performances by St. Pedro, Siroko and DJ El Cholo, a gastronomic area and workshops on salsa, bachata and merengue.

Also scheduled for this Sunday, August 9th, on San Agustín beach is the "SBT es Moda" fashion show, featuring designers from the municipality, as an initiative aimed at showcasing local creative talent and highlighting the fashion sector of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

The cultural program will conclude in September with three days of family activities in El Pajar, Castillo del Romeral, and El Tablero, featuring inflatables, laser shows, a foam cannon, and other activities primarily aimed at children and families. Additionally, every Thursday throughout the summer until September 3rd, the El Tablero Multifunctional Park will host children's activities.

Free activities for young people

The Youth Department is also developing the SBT Youth Summer program, an initiative with eight free activities aimed at young people between 18 and 35 years old, with transport included in all scheduled outings.

Since the beginning of summer, the program has allowed participants to enjoy activities such as paddle surfing, snorkeling, surfing, and a leisure day at Hangar 37. It also includes a yoga session at the Mirador de las Dunas on Tuesday, August 11, and an astronomical tour on Wednesday, August 12, organized to observe the eclipse and enjoy the Perseid meteor shower.

On August 13, the Maspalomas Skate Park facilities will host Urban Summer, a free-access activity that will combine music and workshops on skateboarding, BMX, parkour and calisthenics, without the need for prior registration.

The program will conclude on August 18 with a day of karting, closing an offering that combines sport, nature, adventure, culture and new experiences for the young population of the municipality.

Weekends

This program is complemented by the leisure activities offered by private events that take place on weekends in Los Campitos, where the City Council provides the space of the David García Field for the celebration of different events, expanding the entertainment options during the summer and contributing to the revitalization of this enclave of the municipality.

With this summer program, the Culture and Youth departments reinforce their commitment to a public, free and decentralized offering that promotes citizen participation and brings culture, sport and leisure closer to the different neighborhoods of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
