New impetus to improve the working conditions of the staff of the Local Police of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The City Council has contracted the services of Insular Uniforms to supply bulletproof vests for agents in order to enhance the safety of officials. The vests will guarantee the level of protection without causing discomfort to the neck, shoulders and armpits, one of the main demands of the agents.
It will have ballistic protection on the chest, back and sides. 360º side protection and a ballistic level of protection for 9 mm FMJ Dunamit Nobel caliber and 357 Remington SPFN caliber. This process had been in the purchasing development phase since June 8 by Commissioner Isidro Armas. The new vests will be resistant to 44 MAG SJHP caliber and will have anti-knife protection with a maximum penetration of 20 mm. It will have a thermo-sealed ballistic insert cover, resistant to water and ultraviolet rays, another of the agents' demands due to outdoor temperatures.
The municipal plan requires that all local police officers, as well as national and civil guards who serve in citizen security units, have a personal protection vest in 2023, a historical demand of these officials who on many occasions had to share this garment. . The general directors of the National Police and the Civil Guard have outlined this Wednesday in the Interior Commission of Congress the budgets for both bodies in 2023, among which the items for the acquisition of protective vests stand out. Current legislation states that the use of these vests is only mandatory in the Preventive Action Unit, although the rest of the Local Police can also use them. Each vest will have a weight of 2,5 kilos.
